Book Information and Description:

Innovative Network Analysis & Design: A Modeling & Simulation Approach
With time, the role of networking will become increasingly important as it will offer greater coverage of distance (or space), higher speed of transport, and increasing number of entities that may be reached simultaneously. Today, modeling and asynchronous distributed simulation is the ideal and possibly the only known scientific mechanism to facilitate the design and analysis of large-scale networks with complex functionalities.

Innovative Network Analysis and Design presents an accessible, thorough examination of network design based on modeling and simulation, rather than the traditional OSI/ISO layered paradigm. In Part I, the focus is on the elements that comprise networking, their properties, and the underlying control and coordination algorithms that govern how the elements interact with each other to define the nature and overall behavior of the network. In Part II, the book employs behavior modeling and asynchronous distributed simulation as a scientific approach to (1) obtain comprehensive, high-level insights into the nature and behavior of realistic networks and to (2) assess objectively the impact of the individual network characteristics on the overall performance. This approach permits any design concept under consideration to be studied, experimented, and analyzed scientifically and later incorporated into a prototype network design
